Edit a Video

The video edit page is where you update everything about a video after it's uploaded: its details and artwork, who can watch it, how to share and embed it, its files, and its captions.

To open it, go to Content → Videos and click the video's name, or choose Edit from its ⋯ menu. The page has five tabs. Click Save Changes when you're done.

Details

Basic info

• Name: the video's title. Required.
• Description: shown to viewers on the video's page.
• Tags: keywords that help organize your videos and make them easier to find.
• Categories: where the video appears on your website and apps. Need a new one? Click + New Category. Learn more: Create & Edit Categories
• Talent: the speakers, cast, or artists in the video. The video then appears on their talent page, and they appear on the video's page. Learn more: Talent

Tip: fill in as many fields as you can. Rich details make your content easier to organize, search, and discover.

Visual presentation

• Thumbnail: the main image, 1920 × 1080, used across most layouts on your website and apps. You can Remove it, Capture a new one straight from the video, or Download it.
• Poster Image: a vertical image, 720 × 1080, used by layouts like Poster Row and Portrait Cards. Upload a dedicated poster for the best look.

Scheduling

Optional. Set a Start Date and End Date to control when the video is available, for scheduled releases, time-limited content, or seasonal promotions. Without dates, the video is available according to its privacy.

Advanced

• Sort Order: the video's position in categories sorted by manual order.
• Reference ID: an extra ID, mainly for external content and CSV imports. Learn more: Upload via CSV

More fields appear here when you turn them on in Content → Content Settings:

• Content: Rating, Release Year, Genre, Producer, and Season.
• Recognition Badge: a Recognition Image and Recognition Text (up to 60 characters) for awards, nominations, or official selections.
• Custom Links: click Add Link to add up to two buttons that send viewers to an external website, such as a store or product page. They show on your website and mobile apps.

Video experience

• Trailer Video: choose another video from your library, or paste an external HLS (.m3u8) URL. A Watch Trailer button then appears on the video's page. YouTube links aren't supported.

Access

• Privacy: Public or Private. Private videos are hidden from all viewers, whatever their subscriptions or purchases, but you can still schedule them on a channel.
• Video Password: viewers need this password to watch, without changing the video's privacy. One password per video, supported on the website. Share it with the viewers you want to watch.
• Contributor Permission: choose a contributor who can manage this video.

Under Monetization:

• Price: sell the video as a one-time pay-per-view purchase.
• Subscriptions: make the video available to subscribers of one or more subscriptions.
• Video VAST URL: play your own ads on this video. Shown when it's turned on in Content Settings.

With no price or subscription, the video is free to watch.

Distribution

• VOD Page URL: the video's page on your Bamboo website (when your site is live).
• Standalone Page URL: a page with just the video, ready to share anywhere.
• HLS Stream URL: the video's stream, for playing it in another player or app.
• Embed Code: choose a player, then copy the iFrame or JavaScript embed.

Files

Download the original Source file or any of its encoded qualities. To get a direct MP4 link instead, click the small arrow next to Download and choose Copy Link. Learn more: Direct video link

Need to swap the video? Under Replace Video Source, upload a new file from your device or import it from a download link.

Replacing the video keeps the same video page, video ID, embed codes, and analytics. Only the file changes. Processing can take up to 24 hours.

Captions

Click Add Caption to upload an SRT subtitle file. Add a file for each language you want to offer.
