Editing your video’s information
This tutorial explains how to edit a video’s information in Bamboo Cloud.
Editing a video’s information allows you to update metadata, thumbnails, permissions, and monetization settings after upload. Use this to keep your content organized, searchable, and properly configured for publishing or selling.
Table of Contents
- Edit Basic Information
- Manage Thumbnails
- View Additional Video Links
- Configure Permissions and Monetization
- Optional Fields: Order and Speakers
1. Edit Basic Information
Go to your video library and select the video you want to edit (either by clicking the video title or the Edit button).
You will be directed to the Info tab.
In the Info tab, you can update:
- Video name
- Description
- Categories (used to organize your content)
- Tags
Categories are used to organize your content inside the platform.
To add categories to your video, you will need to first add categories to your account.
Read more about that here.
Bamboo Pro Tip: The more metadata you add to your library, the easier it is for you and your users to search for a video. We highly recommend completing all fields and uploading a thumbnail for every video.

2. Manage Thumbnails
At the top of the screen, you will find the thumbnail generator.
By default, Bamboo Cloud displays 3 thumbnails randomly selected from your video.
Click any of them to set it as your video thumbnail.
To set a custom thumbnail, click Custom. You can choose between:
- Upload – Upload your own image file to use as the thumbnail (recommended best practice).
- Current frame – Play the video, pause on the desired frame, then click Current frame to capture and set it as the thumbnail.
You can also upload a Poster (vertical) image.
This image is used in vertical layouts across your website and apps.
Bamboo Pro Tip: Thumbnails are critical for video performance. Use high-quality, clear images for both horizontal thumbnails and vertical posters.
3. View Additional Video Links
Within the Info tab, you will also see fields that cannot be edited but are important to understand:
- Play Page URL – The direct link to the video’s page.
- HLS URL – The direct link to the video’s
.m3u8file.
The HLS URL can be used for embedding in certain cases.
Note: When embedding a video using the HLS URL, views from that embed will not be reflected in Bamboo analytics.
4. Configure Permissions and Monetization
Open the Permissions tab to manage access and monetization settings for your video.
Here you can configure:
- Privacy – Set the video as public or private.
- Price – Define a price for individual video purchase.
- Package – Assign the video to a package for bundled access.
Bamboo Pro Tip:
To display the Price field on your videos, you must first enable pricing in Settings → Media Settings.
To start selling videos, you must first complete your Stripe setup. Follow the Stripe integration tutorial for the required values, and contact the Bamboo team if you need assistance.
Bamboo Pro Tip:
To assign a Package, at least one package must already be created. Go to Settings → Packages to create a package before assigning it to a video.
5. Optional Fields: Order and Speakers
The Order and Speakers fields do not appear by default.
To enable them, go to Settings → Media Settings and activate:
- Speakers
- Order
Once enabled, these fields will appear at the bottom of the Info tab.
Order
Allows you to define a custom order for videos inside a category.
This lets you control the display sequence instead of using automatic sorting (such as newest first or A–Z).
Speakers
A complete solution for adding speakers, artists, or cast members to a video, category, or series.
Each speaker can have a dedicated page.
For full configuration details, refer to the dedicated Speakers tutorial.
