How to open/add a new live event?

Live events are managed in the "Media" module, under the "Live" tab.

Adding a new live event is done from the “+Add” button.

Open a new live event

Once created, select the live event and edit its name and details.

You can assign it to a category and add a custom thumbnail.

Live stream metadata

After opening the live event, make sure you choose your custom stream to use before going live!

The "Permissions" tab

On the “Permissions” tab:

  1. You’ll be able to change the privacy of your live event to be either public or private.
  2. Add monetization by adding a price or package to the event

(if your payment gateways have already been set up).

Check out our Stripe tutorial and contact our support team to enable purchases.

  3. Set Start and End times for your event — we recommend setting start and end dates for your live events. Once set, the platform will add a countdown timer to your event (if relevant), and we will automatically record and ingest it after the session is done.

Bamboo Pro tip-

We recently added new "Set Start Date" and "Set End Date" buttons.

By using these buttons, you can automatically set the "start time" to the exact moment you start your live event and the "end time" to the moment you finish, making your automatic recording even more accurate!

Important to know, the start and end times will not start or stop your broadcasting!

Those fields are only there to provide extra features, like a countdown timer before an event, and to adjust your recording. We will also be able to let users know that your live event has ended.

But again, it won't stop the stream if you don't stop it.

If you schedule the times in advance, please keep in mind that the start and end dates are in UTC.

Contact us to change it to your timezone.

The "Stream info" tab

On the “Stream info” tab, you can find your “Broadcast Server URL” and “Stream Name”.

Stream info

Bamboo Pro Tip: To “Go Live,” you will need streaming software; you can use any you'd like.

We recommend using “OBS”; it’s free and easy to use.

In OBS (or your streaming software), click on the "Settings" button and go to the “Stream” tab.

Insert your stream information.

Bamboo Pro Tip: There are many names for these settings, but for most,

“Broadcast Server URL” is the “Server” and “Stream Name” is the “Stream Key”.

Now, click “Start streaming”, on your streaming software, you should see it playing in Bamboo within 30 seconds.

Don’t forget to stop streaming when you're done.

The "Embed" tab

As always, the embed tab is where you get your embed code.

The embed code is what you need to place your video —or, in this case, live event —wherever you like!

Make sure to choose the right player you want to use from the drop-down menu.

If you haven't created your own player yet, go ahead and create one on the Tool>Player studio tab.
