Adding video channels

To add a channel, go to the “Media” module, press the “+Add” button, and pick “Channel”.

Choosing a scheduling type

Start by editing its name and choosing its “Scheduling type”-

Decide if you want your channel to be scheduled or looped:

  •  A scheduled channel will run according to a specific schedule based on 30-minute blocks.
  •  A looped channel will run in a loop with the videos you added to it.

Bamboo Pro Tips-

Scheduled channels require a filler playlist to play between content blocks and on empty slots.

When making this playlist, we recommend using videos of varying lengths. When the playlist is used in the channel, its videos will be dynamically added in schedule gaps according to the missing time.

So please, make sure you have at least one playlist ready with fillers or promos for your channel.

Looped channels offer an amazing feature called Auto-scheduling!

With auto-scheduling, we will take the content assigned in the "content categories" field,

and use it to create your schedule for you!

We will randomly assign the 50 newest videos to your channel's schedule.

Bamboo will start by scheduling a week of content, and after that, it will add one day per day.

Please note, the auto-scheduling takes about 15 mins, after that you can go to the "Playout" tab to view or make changes to the newly created schedule.

Channel type

Channel type- you can choose between a Bamboo, YouTube, or an external channel.

Bamboo channel is, of course, the default; it's a channel that is built with your content

that is stored on your account.

YouTube channel is a channel that is built with YouTube content that was uploaded to your account via the "upload with YouTube" button. This content will play on the YouTube player.

Please note that you can’t play YouTube and Bamboo videos on the same channel.

Also, a YouTube channel can be used only on your Bamboo site, you won't be able to embed it elsewhere.

External channel- is a channel that you already built somewhere else or got from someone, and you want to add it to Bamboo so it's added to your Bamboo site and apps as part of the channels you offer.

Additional settings

"Categories"- This is the place to choose which categories you want your channel to appear in.

Content categories- fields is where you assign the content that would be used in your channel.

This is the content that you will see when you schedule your channel on the “Playout” tab.

And the content that would be used if you choose to enable the "Auto-scheduling" feature.

"EPG label - is used in the TV guide to override all video labels and give your channel EPG a single unified label. This is important for short-form videos, which can cause a messy and confusing TV guide look. A good example would be a Music channel with short three-minute videos.

"Thumbnail" - Please upload a 1920*1080 image for the thumbnail.

"Permission" - To start running your channel, don't forget to move it from "Private to Public"  on the permission tab.

Channel time zone and date format

To choose the channel's time zone and date format, go to the “media options” module and check out our “Channels settings”.
