Apple App Store: Artwork and Listing Guide
This guide covers everything you need to publish your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV apps on the Apple App Store: the artwork for your app and your store page, the text Apple asks for, the right category, and the rights and review details Apple checks.
Bamboo usually prepares and submits your store listing for you. Use this guide to get everything ready in advance, or to manage your listing yourself in App Store Connect.
Before you start: you need your own Apple Developer account, enrolled as an organization, with Bamboo invited as an Admin. Learn more: Activating the Apple App Store Platform
Where to find it: sign in to App Store Connect and open your app. Your listing is split into these pages:
- App Information: name, subtitle, category, content rights, and age rating.
- App Privacy: your privacy policy and the data your app collects.
- Your app version (under Distribution): screenshots, description, keywords, support URL, and App Review details.
In this article:
- Artwork for your app: icon, splash screen, and Apple TV images
- Store artwork: screenshots and preview videos
- Listing text: name, subtitle, description, and keywords
- Choose a category: which one fits your app
- Third-party content and rights: the agreements to have ready
- App Review requirements: demo account, age rating, privacy, and payments
- Checklist: everything in one list
Artwork for your app
These images are built into your app. Send them to Bamboo with your Kickoff document. Learn more: Bamboo apps Kickoff document
| Image | Size (pixels) | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| App icon | 1024 × 1024 | PNG | A full square with no transparency. Don't round the corners: Apple does that for you. |
| Splash screen (iPhone and iPad) | 1080 × 1920 and 1080 × 1240 | PNG or GIF | Shown while the app loads. Use a GIF for an animated splash screen. |
| Placeholder | 1920 × 1080 | PNG | Shown when a category image is missing. |
| Apple TV app icon | 800 × 480 | PNG | Only if you have an Apple TV app. |
| Apple TV splash screen | 1920 × 1080 and 1240 × 1080 | PNG or GIF | Only if you have an Apple TV app. |
| Apple TV Top Shelf image | 2320 × 720 | PNG | Shown across the top of the Apple TV home screen when your app is in the top row. |
Tip: keep your logo and any text away from the edges, so nothing is cut off on different screen sizes.
Store artwork
These images appear on your App Store page. Screenshots must show your real app.
| Image | Size (pixels) | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone screenshots (6.9") | 1320 × 2868 (portrait) | Yes. Add 6.1" screenshots (1206 × 2622) too. |
| iPad screenshots (13") | 2064 × 2752 (portrait) | Yes, if your app runs on iPad |
| Apple TV screenshots | 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160 | Yes, for your Apple TV app |
| App preview video | iPhone 886 × 1920, iPad 1200 × 1600, Apple TV 1920 × 1080 | Optional |
- Add 1 to 10 screenshots per device size, as JPG or PNG with no transparency.
- Your first 1 to 3 screenshots show in search results, so lead with your best screens.
- App preview videos are 15 to 30 seconds long, up to 500 MB, and you can add up to 3.
- All store artwork must suit ages 4 and up, even if your app has a higher age rating.
Make your screenshots work for you: Bamboo can take screenshots from your app for you. We recommend turning them into marketing images: your real app screens with a short message for viewers. For example, a screenshot of your channels with the text "24/7 channels, watch anytime".

Product page header, search results, and iPhone Duo
App Store Connect has a Product Page Information section with three more ways to stand out:
- Product page header: a large image at the top of your App Store page, above your icon and app details. Use a bold image of your brand or content.
- Search results image: an image shown in App Store search results instead of your screenshots. Keep it clear, since it shows small, next to other apps.
- iPhone Duo screenshots and previews: iPhone Duo needs its own screenshots and previews. Without them, your page may show scaled images from another device size.

Listing text
| Field | Limit | What to write |
|---|---|---|
| App name | 30 characters | Your brand or service name. |
| Subtitle | 30 characters | A short summary under the name, for example "Live services and sermons". |
| Promotional text | 170 characters | News or offers. You can change it any time, without a new app version. |
| Description | 4000 characters | What viewers can watch and do in your app. Plain text only. |
| Keywords | 100 characters | Search words, separated by commas, with no spaces. |
| What's New | 4000 characters | What changed in each update. Required from the second version. |
| Support URL | A full web address | A page where viewers can get help, such as your site's contact page. |
| Privacy Policy URL | A full web address | Required. Your Apple TV app also needs the policy text itself. |
| Copyright | Year and owner | For example "2026 Your Company". Apple adds the © symbol. |
In languages like Hebrew or Arabic, each letter counts as 2 characters in the Keywords field.
Writing tips
- Description: start with what makes your content special. Many people only read the first lines.
- Keywords: don't repeat your app name, category names, or the word "app", and don't use competitors' names or trademarks.
- Be accurate: describe only what's in the app. Apple rejects misleading text.

Choose a category
Choose a primary category and, optionally, a secondary one. The primary category decides where your app appears when people browse and filter.
| Your app | Primary category |
|---|---|
| Movies, shows, or general video | Entertainment |
| Church or faith | Lifestyle |
| Courses and lessons | Education |
| Sports | Sports |
| Music and concerts | Music |
| News | News |

Third-party content and rights
Apple only approves apps that have the rights to their content. If your app shows content you didn't create, get written permission before you submit. This includes:
- Movies, shows, or sports licensed from a distributor.
- Videos from YouTube or Vimeo channels that aren't yours.
- Music, sermons, or worship content from other artists or ministries.
- Other brands' names and logos.
Have a signed license agreement or a permission letter from each rights holder, as a PDF. It should cover every country your app is available in. In App Store Connect, answer Yes to "Does your app contain, show, or access third-party content?"
If Apple asks for proof, attach the documents in the Attachment section of App Store Connect, and explain them in the Review Notes. If Bamboo submits for you, send the documents to us with your Kickoff document.
App Review requirements
- Demo account: a working username and password for Apple's reviewers, with access to all content, including paid content. Make sure it doesn't expire.
- Real content: publish your videos and set up your categories before you submit. Apple rejects apps that look empty or unfinished.
- Age rating: answer Apple's questionnaire about your content. It decides your age rating (4+, 9+, 13+, 16+, or 18+).
- App Privacy: declare the data your app collects, including analytics and ads. Bamboo can help with what the app collects.
- Payments: subscriptions and paid content sold in your app must use Apple's in-app purchases. Learn more: Activating the Apple App Store Platform
- Contact details: a name, email, and phone number (with country code) Apple can reach during review.
