General Settings: Access, Registration & Legal Pages

The General page holds your platform's core settings: your site's name for search engines, the player and auto-play, how your site behaves, who can access your content, registration, search, and your legal pages. Go to Platform → General to set them up. Each section shows which platforms it applies to: your website, your apps, or both. Your changes save automatically.

In this article:

  3. Interface & behavior: site on or off, RTL, date format, and rows
  4. Access & subscription: who can watch, and when they need to log in

  6. Search: turn search on and choose what it finds
  7. Legal & support: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, FAQ, and support email

Platform identity

Site Name and Site Description apply to your website. Copyright Text applies to your website and apps.

  • Site Name: your platform's public name, used in search engine results and page metadata.
  • Site Description: the description used in search engine previews and page metadata.
  • Copyright Text: the copyright line in your website's footer and your apps' menu. Leave it empty to use your site name.

Player settings

  • Site Player: the player used for videos on your website. Create and customize players in Tools → Player Studio. Learn more: Player Studio
  • Enable Auto-Play Next Video: automatically plays the next video when the current one ends, on your website, mobile apps, and TV apps.
  • Next Video Popup Timing (%): when the Next Video popup appears, based on how much of the current video was watched. For example, 95 shows it after 95% of the video. The default is 100%.

Interface & behavior

  • Enable Site: turns public access to your site on or off. When it's off, your site is unavailable to everyone.
  • Enable RTL Layout: shows the interface right to left, for languages like Hebrew and Arabic.
  • Use U.S. Date & Time Format: shows dates and times as MM/DD and AM/PM, instead of DD/MM and 24-hour time.
  • Enable Carousel Loop: lets content rows loop back to the beginning when viewers scroll to the end.
  • Gallery Item Limit: the maximum number of items in each content row. When a row has more, a View All option appears.

Access & subscription

Applies to your website and apps. These settings decide who can enter your platform, and whether viewers need an account or a subscription first. They work together, so it helps to plan which setup you want before you turn them on.

The settings

  • Login Required: viewers must log in before they can access any content.
  • Hide Login & Registration: removes the login and registration options from your platform completely. Because viewers can't log in, it also hides the user menu and My Account page on your website, and the settings icon in your apps' menu.
  • Show User Settings: shows or hides the user settings option in your main menu. When Hide Login & Registration is on, user settings are hidden anyway.
  • Allow Registration: lets new viewers create an account themselves. When it's off, only users you add can log in. Learn more: Manage your users
  • External Registration Link: sends the Register button to your own sign-up page, instead of the built-in registration form.
  • Login Page Message: a custom message on your login page, for example to explain how to get an account.
  • Allow Guest Access: lets viewers enter without logging in, for their current session. When Login Required is on, the login screen shows an option to continue as a guest.
  • Subscription Required for Access: viewers must log in and have an active subscription to access your platform.

Common setups

  • Open platform: leave Login Required and Subscription Required for Access off. Anyone can browse and watch your free content, and viewers log in only when they need to, for example to buy something or save to My List. This is the default.
  • Members only: turn on Login Required and keep Allow Registration on. Anyone can sign up, but they need an account to watch.
  • Invite only: turn on Login Required and turn off Allow Registration. Only users you add, or import, can log in. Use the Login Page Message to tell visitors how to get access.
  • Subscribers only: turn on Subscription Required for Access. Viewers must log in and have an active subscription before they can watch anything. Set up your payment gateway and subscriptions first. Learn more: Stripe integration
  • No accounts at all: turn on Hide Login & Registration. Viewers can't log in or register, so use it only when all your content is free.

Tip: already have a sign-up flow on your own website? Add it as the External Registration Link, and the Register button sends viewers there.

Platform access vs. content access

The settings above apply to your whole platform. You can also limit access to specific content, without locking everything:

  • Videos and live events: set the privacy, add a password, sell them as pay-per-view, or include them in subscriptions. Learn more: Edit a Video
  • Categories: limit a category to one or more subscriptions. Learn more: Create & Edit Categories

For example, keep your platform open so anyone can watch your free videos, and sell your premium content with subscriptions or pay-per-view. Viewers are asked to log in and purchase only when they open premium content. If Login Required is on, viewers are already logged in, so they only need to purchase.

Registration fields

When turned on, these fields are required during registration, and when you add or edit users:

  • Require Phone Number: makes the phone number a required field.
  • Require Date of Birth: makes the date of birth a required field.

Applies to your website and apps.

  • Enable Search: shows or hides search in your main menu.
  • Search Content Types: what viewers can search for: Videos, Series, Channels, and Talent. Videos is selected by default. If nothing is selected, search returns videos only.

Your Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, FAQ, and support email appear on the login screen and in the footer of your website and apps. For each page, choose where it loads from:

  • Default: the built-in Terms of Service or Privacy Policy page.
  • External URL: opens a page on your own website.
  • Upload HTML File: hosts your own HTML page on the platform. Upload a .html file, up to 2 MB, and click Preview page to check it.
  • None: for the FAQ page only: hides the FAQ link.

Support Email: the email address viewers can contact for help with their account or your platform.
