Player Studio: Create and Customize Your Player

Player Studio is where you build your own branded video players. Choose how your videos start and play, match the player to your brand, turn on features like Chromecast and sharing, and add ads. Then use the player on your website, or embed it anywhere.

Custom players are available during your free trial and on all paid plans. Bamboo Basic includes one custom player, and Bamboo Pro and Bamboo Business let you create as many as you need.

Create a player

Go to Tools → Player Studio.
Click Create Player, or click an existing player to edit it.
Give your player a name under Player Name.
Customize it with the settings below.
Click Save.

Each player in the list shows its name, ID, and when it was last changed. The player your website uses is marked Default website player.

Choose what to preview

At the top of the editor, pick what plays in the preview: Videos, Live, Channels, or Playlists, then choose an item. You see your changes on that content right away, and the embed code below the preview updates to match it.

Player settings

Your player's settings are grouped into five tabs under Configuration. They apply to everything you play with this player.

Tip: want a different look or behavior somewhere else, such as autoplay on your homepage but not on a course page? Create a separate player for each experience.

Playback

Autoplay: choose when playback starts on its own: Always, In View (when the player scrolls into view), or Never.
Auto Pause: pauses the video when it scrolls out of view, and resumes when it's back.
Preload: loads the video before it starts, for smoother playback.
Muted: starts playback with the sound off.
Loop: starts the video again when it ends.
Playback Rates: the speed options viewers can choose, from 0.25x to 3x.

Colors

Custom Colors: turn this on to replace the default player colors with your own.

Captions

Font Family: the font of your captions.
Font Size: from Small (75%) to Huge (300%).
Font Color: the color of the caption text.
Background Color: the color behind the caption text.
Background Opacity: from Transparent (0%) to Solid (100%).

Features

Logo: adds your clickable logo to the player's control bar.
Watermark: shows a watermark image over the video.
Bumper: plays a short clip before and/or after your video, such as an intro or outro.
Floating Player: shows a mini player when the main player scrolls out of view. Viewers can drag it or close it.
Share: adds a share button with social sharing and embed options.
Google Chromecast: lets viewers cast to Chromecast devices.
Apple AirPlay: lets viewers stream to AirPlay devices from Safari.

Monetization

IMA Ads: shows ads in your player with Google IMA. Add your VAST or VMAP ad tag.

Get the embed code

Below the preview, under Embed Code, choose iFrame or JavaScript and copy the code. Paste it into your website's HTML wherever you want the player to appear.

The code includes both the player and the content you picked in the preview, so you can embed videos, live events, channels, and playlists with the same player.

Choose your default players

Your Bamboo website: go to Platform → General and pick the player under Site Player.
Quick embeds: when you click Copy Embed in your content lists (Videos, Live, Channels, and so on), the code uses your default embed player. To choose it, go to Content → Content Settings and pick a player under Player Configuration.

Manage your players

Click the ⋯ menu on any player in Tools → Player Studio to:

Edit: change the player's settings.
Duplicate: make a copy, a quick way to start a new player from one you like.
Delete: remove the player.
