Getting Started with Bamboo Cloud


Welcome to Bamboo Cloud! This guide takes you through the first steps of setting up your platform: adding videos, sharing them, organizing them, and building your site and apps.


You can follow the same steps inside the admin. Click Getting Started at the top of your Dashboard to open the setup guide at any time.

Step 1: Add your first videos


Go to Content → Videos and click Add Video. Choose how you want to add your content:


  • Upload from Device: upload video files from your computer
  • Import from URL: add a video from a direct link
  • Add External Content: add an HLS stream or another external source
  • Import from Dropbox: bring videos in from your Dropbox account
  • Import from CSV: add many videos at once from a spreadsheet

Step 2: Play, share, and embed your videos


Each video in Content → Videos has a ⋯ menu where you can:

  • Copy Embed: copy the embed code to use on your website
  • Share: share the video's link
  • Open Standalone Page: open the video on its own page


To control how your embedded videos look and behave, create a player. Go to Tools → Player Studio and click Create Player. From there you can customize playback, captions, and styling, and get the embed code for your player.

Step 3: Organize your content into categories


Categories control how your content is organized and displayed. A video must be in a category before it can appear on your site and apps.


To create a category, go to Content → Categories and click Add Category.



Then add your videos to it:

  • One video: in the video's ⋯ menu, choose Edit. On the Details tab, pick the category in the Categories field and click Save Changes. You can also create a category right there with New Category.
  • Several videos at once: in Content → Videos, select the videos with their checkboxes. Click Actions and choose Add to Category.

The categories you build here are used across the whole platform: to filter your library, schedule channels, and build your site and app menus.
